Pattern Packaging Design
Made with Photoshop + Illustrator (Pattern in Illustrator, final composition in Photoshop)
Goal: Make a graphic pattern, and then apply it onto a substrate (in this case, branding materials) to create the final layout.
Did it work? Yes, but with some nitpicks.
The font and logo choices could've used more time.
I somehow got away with using Illustrator's default colors for almost every element in the final product.
Sketches
Sketch 1: For this sketch, I was going for something a bit generic since I didn't have any exciting ideas until later. It's a simple grid with icons laid in the empty centers, with minor detailing on the top and bottom.
Sketch 2 (Chosen): I was originally going to try out a bunch of wires for a circuit board look, but I ended up going closer to a bunch of subway lines which ended up sticking. To add more detail and make the background more interesting, I added a subtle triangle pattern.
